We are a volunteer Brigade, professionally trained to respond to fires and other emergencies.
We are always looking for new volunteers (min. 16 years of age). All necessary training and equipment is provided at no cost to volunteers. A wide range of nationally accredited training is available through the NSW RFS.
We have monthly meetings, training and maintenance as well as regular community engagement - including hazard reduction burns and fund-raising.
Volunteering with the NSW RFS is a great way to gain new friends, skills and experiences - it's about community.
Meetings are held at 6:00pm on the first Monday of the month* at the Fire Station on the corner of Church & Mitchell Streets. All are welcome to attend and engage with the local Brigade. (*excluding JANUARY)

Fire Permits & Notifications
See the RFS guide Before You Light That Fire for full details including whether you require environmental approval to burn vegetation on your property.
Burn Notifications - required all year round.
Notify all adjoining neighbours and the RFS at least 24 hours before lighting a fire.
Notify on the RFS website or call the Burn Notification Line: 1300 632 174.
Fire Permits - required during the Bushfire Danger Period (usually 1st Sep - 31st Mar).
Most fires other than cooking/camp fires lit in the open during this period require a permit.
Apply for a Fire Permit here or call 1300 632 174.
Request RFS assistance
Your local brigade can assist with planning or conducting a burn – however big or small. Call Tweed Fire Control Centre on 02 6671 5500 and they will forward your details to the brigade.
