Fire Permits Season is in force.

People are reminded that we are now in the Fire Permit Season.

It is required by law that all fires, excluding cooking fires, must have a Permit. The person issued with the permit must notify all adjoining neighbours 24 hours before lighting up.  The law states that lighting a fire without a permit can incur a fine of $550 and failing to notify neighbours also has a fine of $550.

The RFS is currently focusing on hazard reduction and have put together a program which will continue until March 2009.  Please phone 6679 5571 if you can assist.
