LOCAL NATIONAL PARKS
 MOUNT JERUSALEM NATIONAL PARK Strictly limited access to this area which is rich in conservation values. This park contains areas of unique coral lichen and a number of nationally listed rare and endangered plants, as well as a rich diversity of tree dwelling animal and bird species. The park can be reached along Rowlands Road from Uki.
MOUNT WARNING NATIONAL PARK (2,380 ha) A NSW World Heritage Rainforest Park Mt Warning in far north-eastern New South Wales, is well worth the visit. There are choices of short or long walks. See Mount Warning Main

WOLLUMBIN NATIONAL PARK The Wollumbin National park adjoins the western border of Mount Warning National Park and is accessible via Tyalgum Road and Byrrill Creek Road. Explore the subtropical rainforest on the 1km Amaroo Track.
NIGHTCAP NATIONAL PARK (4,945 ha) Located on the southern flanks of the Mt. Warning shield volcano, Nightcap National Park is a lush World Heritage-listed rainforest. Terania Creek picnic area includes a short 1.4km return walk. It is reached via a sealed road from the village of Nimbin
BORDER RANGES NATIONAL PARK (30,508 ha) This is a World Heritage rainforest park on the rim of a vast, ancient volcano. Pinnacle Lookout offers views of Mt Warning, the escarpment and all the way to the coast. The 64km Tweed Range Scenic Drive can be reached via the Wiangaree turn off on the Summerland Way, or the Barkers Vale turn off on the Murwillumbah- Kyogle Road.
SPRINGBROOK NATIONAL PARK (2,620 ha) . Access is from Pacific Highway at Mudgeeraba, (also via Numinbah from the Tweed Valley). Included is the Natural Arch near the NSW and Queensland border. Lookouts offer scenic views of mountains and coastline, as well as rainforest and open forest walking tracks.
 MEBBIN NATIONAL PARK (3758 ha) Turn off the Murwillumbah- Kyogle Road at Byrrill Creek Road and then turn left into Mebbin via Mebbin Forest Road. It is best not to use Mebbin Forest Road during wet weather, as it may become slippery and dangerous. This park shares its western boundary with Border Ranges National Park and is made up of dry eucalypt and rain-forest, with a small section of old-growth forest. |
