The forum

The forum is an important community tool.  It allows issues to be aired, grievances to be discussed and problems to be solved in a non-confrontational environment.  Of course if you abuse this privilege the CTC has the authority to remove your posts and ban your user name from the site.

The forum is very simple to use.  Anyone on the WEB can access it to read.  The full power of the forum can only be appreciated once you are logged on (see Joining Up).  This then allows you to join in with the discussion and contribute to the local discussions on many topics.

The forum home page will direct you to the latest post and list who posted it.  There are many links on this page for topics that you might wish to contribute discussion to.  Any text underlined will be linked to an email or a discussion page.  Alternatively at the left hand side is a list of primary topics to go to the specific topic of your choice.

To read the latest post click on the link (read full post).  The page will refresh with the full post on display.

Reading the latest post

After having read the full post you are given several options here:

  1. Email the author directly by clicking on the email button.  The action opens a new window with a generic email laid out for your text.  You will note that the form doesnt display the email address of the recipient.

This helps to ensure some protection from email spamming.

  1. Click on the name of the person who last edited the work (this could probably be the author, but may not be).
  2. Click on the Post Reply link to contribute to the discussion string and really make the forum work at what it does best.

  1. Alternatively if you have nothing to say click any link that indicates that they will back you out of the forum..

If you wish to read on another topic, at any time, within the forum, you can click on one of the left hand side menu topic buttons.  If you feel that the discussion topics in the side menu are not sufficient for your needs, then speak to a member of the CTC who will if sufficient interest is there insert your topic.
