I tend to think that the car pooling would be more popular with the people WITH cars, if those people wanting lifts were to offer assistance with the expense of running the vehicle. I haven't yet read any posts where anyone has even offered!!!It costs more petrol the more passengers you have and rego, insurance, repairs etc are all expensive. It seems to me that those people wanting rides should at the very least be offering to share petrol expenses instead of expecting someone else to pay for their ride!
Car pooling in Sydney, for me, was those people with vehicles taking turns to use their cars, not one person covering all costs on behalf of those who don't pay to run vehicles.
